I am so excited to tell you about our latest success, SIG Symposiums, which supplement our Global Summits and Regional Roundtables by offering a practitioner-rich agenda in a “mini-Summit” format. We just had our first Symposium in Minneapolis, which was attended by over 80 buy-side executives. We began the day with only buy-side in the room and brought our popular "Peer2Peer" requests into a live, interactive format, where we had an open dialogue about a number of pre-submitted issues. It was wonderful to hear dialogue about what technology platforms everyone was using and why. We discussed everything from ERP to spend analytics, eProcurement to procure to pay, workforce management to contract management tools…and I was thrilled to hear that all of the technology providers mentioned (with one exception) are members of SIG. We then discussed everything from Procurement’s role in outsourcing to outsourcing part of the procurement process. We discussed talent shortage issues, alignment within their companies, reporting structures and many more items.
After a networking break, we invited the few providers speaking at the event to join us, and enjoyed an agenda rich with buy-side presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions with our provider members. The networking opportunities were abundant as we provided a wonderful lunch, breaks throughout the day and a cocktail hour combined with a learning center, where the provider members answered questions about their capabilities and where we enjoyed beverages and appetizers.
This event format was met with rave reviews and we are thrilled to be conducting four more of these “mini-Summits” this year in Sydney, Silicon Valley, Toronto and New York, in addition to seven Buy-side Regional Roundtables in cities all over North America. I hope to make it to all the Symposiums this year and I am looking forward to extending our Regional Roundtables to additional cities and countries. Please make sure to check out our website for all the locations and dates.
I am also thrilled at the level of input our members have had this year in helping us to further improve our offerings. I hope you enjoyed Member Appreciation Last Week. We have our members top-of-mind all year, but this it the week when we can really show you. If you have a chance, play the personality poker game, online or with the deck we sent to your company and let me know your hand…if you show me yours, I’ll show you mine!
Denali Group, a SIG provider member is currently offering all SIG buy-side members free access to their comprehensive Facilities Management and Applications Quarterly Market Intelligence Report (MIR) subscriptions.
