In America, we ask people, “What do you do for a living?” In Mexico they say, ‘Tu a qué te dedicas?’—to what are you dedicated?
I love the distinction of working for a cause that you believe in versus working for a living. For me, SIG is a chance to elevate people’s attention to what can transform their businesses, careers and lives…to highlight those things that can help people revolutionize their thinking and innovate within their businesses. It is a chance to educate people outside the SIG community on the fact that outsourcing and offshoring are not synonymous; that by focusing on their core competencies and lowering costs, outsourcing is what keeps American businesses able to compete with companies abroad.
As we end a week of Member Appreciation, I am in awe of all of you, our members. I am inspired by the dedication that you show to your organizations and humbled by the things you do every day to advance the strategic importance of sourcing and outsourcing, both within your companies and to the industry at large.
Over the past week, we have had the opportunity to personally connect with hundreds of you through phone calls and wonderful regional events in New York and Toronto…and it is with that recent experience that I can say how proud we are of our SIG members. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss the issues facing your company and position our strategic objectives to support your concerns. I come away from this week more energized than ever, and along with my amazing team, will dedicate myself to continually elevate our profession and promulgate the successes of our members.
