In Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Obama highlighted innovation in America as essential if the US is to compete in a rapidly changing global economy. "We need to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world," he said.
He was singing our tune. Innovation, regardless of where you and your company are located, should always be top of mind. If we’ve learned anything from the economic storm we’ve weathered, it is that change is necessary for all of us to thrive. I love a verb like “innovate” that not only tells me I need to try new things, but also defines the way I’ve approached my life and my life’s businesses.
At SIG we embrace this verb with every action we take. We always assume that if something went well today, it doesn’t mean it is “good enough,” but rather we look for ways to make it even better tomorrow. We may be a 20-year-old company, but we operate like a start-up organization, always seeking ways to grow and improve. This entrepreneurial spirit is what allows us to innovate constantly to be the strongest organization we can be.
In the past quarter alone, SIG’s innovative spirit has caught the attention of over 20 leading companies who have joined or re-joined the SIG community. Take a peek at the list of new members, and you’ll know you are in good company. These are world class organizations who, like the rest of our members, have the right and obligation to push us to new heights and into new areas...places like London and Sydney …products like Market Intelligence and Benchmarking Reports. Our growth in all areas means that SIG is no longer just “an event company.”
I find it interesting that “revolutionize” is a synonym for “innovate”. In fact, I’m even MORE excited by that verb because I believe that SIG has been inspired by members like you to revolutionize this industry. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be entering completely new territories over the next 12 months with revolutionary concepts, like our International Outsourcing Expeditions to India and China (stay tuned for more on that) and our executive “talk show” series.
Don’t forget to register now for the upcoming Global Sourcing Summit, where we’ll give you more details on our growth and offer plenty of sessions that will give you some innovative ideas to carry home as well.
